Child Center of Pennsylvania honors Brian Houchins Community Recognition Award

Brian Houchins  of Mechanicsburg is the winner of the 2023 Community Recognition Award.  This prestigious award is introduced annually to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to bettering the lives of kids in our community.



Brian Houchins , a dedicated elementary college teacher and group volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children's training and welfare.  Over the past ten years, his efforts have significantly impacted the lives of numerous kids in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas.  Houchins' initiatives embody establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged students, weekend workshops specializing in literacy and numeracy skills for at-risk youth, and leading a profitable community-driven marketing campaign to upgrade local playgrounds, ensuring safe and inclusive play areas for all children.

The ceremony for the award will be held on January 15,on the 15th of January,2024,2024at the Mechanicsburg Community Center.  The occasion will function speeches from native dignitaries, a presentation about Houchins' contributions, and the award presentation.
